Check out this Carrera Panamericana Vette on HRW. Particularly the American iron class. You can find a bunch of 1/24 (1/25) models of late 40's early 50's Fords and Chevrolets and a Studebaker. While the CPA only ran from 50-55, by extending it a little to include any American car from the say 1946-1959 you could include some Caddies, Lincolns and Chryslers. The cars had wild paint jobs (and decals are available).

If I don't have a 1/24th that fits the bill I doubt I would be running in this.
